One of the first episodes of Roswell, a WB series, was filmed at the old Phillips 66 service station in town. In 1977 Smokey and the Bandit was filmed primarily in Georgia, including McDonough.

McDonough hosts an annual Geranium Festival. Each Springtime, the third Saturday in May, the citizens celebrate locally grown flowers and community. The festival showcases local art and talent through markets and live performances. 2019 will mark the 42nd festival.
